
So, the Grand Canyon, then. That is one big hole in the ground! It's about an hour and a half north of Flagstaff and, once you've paid to enter the National Park, everything is laid on for you. There are buses to take you to the best viewpoints and lots of information signs etc. round and about.

We headed out to various view points to marvel at the size and scale of it (about 277 miles long by an average of 10 miles wide) and look through binoculars at helicopters we thought were birds at first, and search for hikers crossing the Canyon.

Our attendance at the Canyon brought down the average visitor age considerably and overheard high volume conversations on buses mean we now know a lot about the pros and cons of Seniors Centers in Kansas City.
Nonetheless the Canyon is more spectacular than pictures and words can do justice to. If you ever get the chance, make sure you visit it.
